When QLI agreed to develop a specialized training program in early 2019, it was clear Melissa Peterson was the perfect leader to spearhead this new endeavor.

In her career at QLI, Melissa quickly proved herself to be an extraordinary part of her team—not only providing terrific care for the individuals in QLI’s rehabilitation program, but serving as an incisive mentor capable of unearthing her colleagues’ hidden strengths.

Melissa leads QLI’s Workforce Development program, a program designed to provide specialized, real-world CNA training to high school students working to break the cycle of poverty faced by their families and their community. In this role, she combines the skills of a master teacher and the painstaking care of a parent, investing intellectually and emotionally into the success of the students participating in the program.

Her passion, her commitment, her relentless devotion gives the youth she serves a shot at happiness, success, and financial independence.

For her work, Melissa was one of six QLI team members recognized with the 2019 QLI’s James P. O’Donnell Demonstrated Excellence Award, the company’s most prestigious distinction. Presented only once every two years, the Demonstrated Excellence Awards are a peer-selected honor, signifying an overwhelming recognition of an individual’s resolve to go above and beyond the commitment to excellence.
