Expanding the Legacy

QLI stands as a beacon of hope for individuals navigating the complexities of a catastrophic injury. Our remarkable 35-year journey has cemented a legacy of excellence. QLI’s unwavering dedication has set the gold standard for exceptional outcomes and compassionate care in rehabilitation. This steadfast foundation empowers us to serve the individuals who need us most.

BUILDING A LEGACY (1987-2010)

In our first two decades, QLI established itself as a place where recovery is fueled through compassion and excellence. A modest residential campus and a few dozen team members operating an independent living program were the start of a journey that would completely recreate brain injury rehabilitation.

An innovative approach to care, combined with a deeply committed team supporting individuals during their most challenging times, created a nurturing environment where recovery is not just possible, but expected. A place for all, families found a community in which their loved ones thrived, while our team members cultivated a culture of hope, dedication, and resilience.

CEMENTING THE LEGACY (2011-2025)

Thee next phase of QLI’s evolution was fueled by a ‘never quite satisfied’ mindset—one that propelled us beyond external challenges, from the Medicaid crisis to the pandemic, and kept us at the cutting edge of care. We continually sought to enhance the rehabilitation experience by adopting advanced technologies and strengthening our evidence-based practices. We expanded services for families and opened our doors to our alumni. We invested heavily in developing a dedicated and skilled healthcare workforce. Our commitment to fostering a positive and purpose-filled environment has been instrumental in instilling hope and optimism in our clients, and in creating a space where families, team members, and alumni can thrive. During this pivotal period, we strategically expanded our facilities and services, ensuring we could accommodate more individuals while maintaining our high standards of care. As a result, our evidence-based rehabilitation program became the preferred resource for referral and funding sources specializing in catastrophic care.

QLI now serves individuals and their families from approximately 30 states annually, making Omaha the destination for brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation and care. We have over 450 team members providing services across five levels of care, and we have another life-changing, technology-fueled service in the making. Our unique approach to catastrophic rehabilitation, including our 65-acre campus filled with real-world amenities, is truly the only of its kind in the country.

EXPANDING THE LEGACY

As we reflect on our journey, it is clear the foundation we have laid over the past 35 years is only the beginning. The future presents us with unprecedented opportunities to expand the legacy we have created. By investing in additional infrastructure and leveraging technological advancements, we will continue to serve more individuals. Together, we will pave the way for a brighter future for anyone facing a lifelong recovery, as well as the families and healthcare workforce who serve them.
